* "Santa for Seniors" Mission
Statement *
With the vision to make the holiday season a little brighter for a
local senior citizen the “Santa for Seniors” program was conceived in 2009. These seniors who may lack the support of family
and have limited financial resources can be referred by local service providers to
receive a Christmas gift.
Seniors can be adopted by community members by calling 315-376-7431 or
by listening to the Moose Radio or by email below. Gift suggestions, age and gender would be provided
to the adoptee. Gifts will be returned
unwrapped, and volunteers will wrap and prepare gifts for delivery. They will be delivered in conjunction with the
Christmas Sharing Holiday Assistance Program distribution date.
Monetary donations are accepted and used solely to purchase, gifts
for seniors who are not adopted, items to enhance already donated gifts, and for
program/wrapping supplies.
The community support for this program since it’s conception has
been nothing less than amazing. The “Santa
for Seniors” program looks forward to partnering with CSEA Local 825, the
Lowville Food Pantry, the Christmas Sharing Assistance Program, and the Moose
Radio Station.
Santa
for Senior’s will start taking donations and will be starting the adopt a senior progrm on Nov. 19 this year.
Christmas is the season for giving back to our
community. The vision of the “Santa for Seniors” program is to ensure the
senior citizens of Lewis County are not forgotten during the giving season.
